This material is part of the Montessori astronomy curriculum for elementary level. At the elementary level, children learn about the phases of the moon and its position in relation to the Earth and the Sun, which occurrence is fascinating. Children observe the eight moon phases while it orbits the Earth. The Phases of the Moon includes the following components: the Phases of the Moon, the New Moon Phase the Waxing Crescent Moon Phase, the First Quarter Moon Phase, the Waxing Gibbous Moon Phase, the Full Moon Phase, the Waning, the Gibbous Moon Phase, the Last Quarter Moon Phase, and the Waning Crescent Moon Phase. The material consists of 27 sets of three-part nomenclature cards that contain a description, a label, and a picture card for matching purposes. There is one wallchart representing all the parts together. The booklet serves as control for error for the nomenclature matching work.
