Pamela Rigg

Dr. Pamela Zell Rigg received her AMS Early Childhood Teacher Credential in 1967 and subsequently earned her AMS Elementary and Infant and Toddler credentials. Dr. Rigg’s degrees include a BA In English Literature and an MA in Early Childhood Education from New York University. Additionally, she has an MA in Educational Psychology from the University of Arizona. Her Ph.D. is in Education in Math, Science and Technology from UC Berkeley.

Dr. Rigg has been researching and creating Montessori materials for MRD for the past 34 years. She has authored over 50 Montessori curriculum manuals and supporting curriculum materials in Infant and Toddler, Early Childhood and Elementary Levels I and II. Some of these manuals have been translated into Spanish and Mandarin for use overseas. Dr. Rigg is a past board member of the American Montessori Society. Currently, Dr. Rigg serves as Executive Director of the Montessori Council of California (MCC), bringing public policy issues effecting Montessori schools and teachers to the attention of California state governmental agencies and the legislature and as Vice President of the International Association of Montessori Educators (IAME).

Dr. Rigg works closely with the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE) in providing professional development for teacher trainers. Dr. Rigg recently organized “Brain Research and Montessori Education” with Dr. Stephen Hughes, and “Cosmic Education, Biogeochemical Cycles and the Montessori Garden.” She continues to develop materials for MRD such as our recent “The Money Curriculum.”
