Word Study Set #1
Compounds, Roots/Suffixes, Prefixes/Roots
900+ cards with 60 activities
Word Study Set 1 lays the foundation for understanding how words are formed. Students will explore compound words, discover how roots and suffixes shape meaning, and investigate the relationship between prefixes and roots. By identifying and manipulating the smallest parts of a word, children develop morphological awareness and enhance their literacy skills.
This material is introduced through a series of Key Experiences provided in the corresponding manual Language Arts Volume 3 Elementary Level I. The material is available to children during their entire time in the elementary classroom. It is revisited each year between ages 6-9 and used in parallel to Set #3 and Set #4. Most of the material is practiced by children independently.
